I've been doing some research on LOMA's (Letter of Map Amendment), and am looking into this option once I have closed on this property.

In that case have your realtor submit an amendment for an extension period. 

Contact your provider and they should be able to assist you with this change by amending your plan. 

May need to amend my taxes.

You will hear the term General Plan Amendment (GPA) too.

@Josh Fralish  It may be too late to amend the contract, but you should have stated that the house must be vacant upon possession.

You would need a rental agreement and an agreement to amend contract stating he is staying until 10/9.
