We unconsciously pursue society's version of success because its easy to do.  

You do have a point about property taxes, its one of the worst plagues on our society but thats a story for a different day.

But I'm also of the opinion that there are certain things we are just going to have to get over paying for as a society.

In a consumer debt society, its easy to live beyond our means.

I am with you and would never even consider a suite, it isn't right and is one of the major contributors to the deteriorating social standards in your society.

But it's never too late, though :) I love how Bigger Pockets and your site give people with a will but maybe not all the monetary resources a chance to invent their own careers and achieve financial success through real estate- it's so empowering and exactly what our society needs more of!

The problem with our society in general is that we make a mistake by being too careless and our knee jerk reaction is to over compensate in fixing the mistake.  

Unfortunately, the general perception in society and specifically in this industry regarding Section 8 is that whoever is provided Section 8 assistance is "low" class.  

You dropped a few "me's" in your question which is common in today's society.

Your comment: "in the 80's "traditional" was 20%" There would be no society if 20% was "Traditional" The high rates came from a failed Fed Policy and we had high inflation at the same time. :-)
