We were stationed in Fort Irwin and I do know of many soldiers that would commute to Barstow, but the long lonely drive was dreadful.

Benning and the area is growing fast and we have B.R.A.C. going on with large number of soldiers being relocated from Ft.

Being a 20 year Air Force Vet I understand the VA loan process and I think with the high concentration of soldiers there is a lot of individuals buying homes there that shouldn't.  

As a former U.S. soldier, I'm currently in the process of applying for a VA Home Loan.

And, I worked as a civilian in the Army providing service and support to Soldiers and their Families.

You will most likely not qualify for what you are looking for and if you did qualify it would most likely not be to your advantage.  1st step for you is to place $10,000 in the SDP while you are deployed (10% interest account funded by the military for deployed soldiers). 

Have you ever been a similar situation where you found a better deal than the one you are closing on, and felt the FOMO and decided to back out of the existing offer or soldier on with the deal you had in hand, and;2.

I am sure there's a decent multifamily you could rent to soldiers up there.
