"Readers are leaders and leaders are readers" is the quote I like and the advice I would give. 

It's the leader in many markets and I have seen them swallowing all the top agents, doing this creates a snowball effect as the more luxury listings with one firm the more top agents want to join.

In this case, the guru not only gets the student to pay for the course, but also basically builds an army of people to start feeding them deals, capital, etc, in which the leader can share in a piece of each.

You are the team leader and manage the client relationship and deliverables.If you can provide investors a solution, they will seek you out because no other realtor can.

That effort can payoff big if you are known as the go to guy/gal, you're an organizer, you will know the who's and what's, you'll be seen as a contributor, not a taker, a leader and I guarantee that if you hold a decent meeting, every investor in there will be talking to  you!
