Yet, there is still such a wealth here I feel I haven’t scratched the surface I can see how newbie investors get distracted because every time I search for a particular topic or area I suddenly get new ideas about where I'd like to go or what I'd like to do.

Get another job, if you can't get another, work on getting a better job, focus HARD on it without distractions.. sell everything that collects dust, sell your unused toys, trade a fancy car in for an older one.. get sidework, work freaking HARD.

I started listening to BP about 2 years ago and got very distracted with life.

However, if I smell that the hosts are quite obviously desperate for camera time to the point of distraction, I'm quick to punt that particular show.That said, sometimes the real stuff is super boring (if the host is boring).

One struggle I had was shiny object syndrome, the disease of distraction.

Buyers ask too many (often trivial or unrelated) questions and distract him from his job.  

The bar is too distracting for me--I liked it better when we used to have a room at Caribou Coffee. ...seemed to be more engaging. 

If you are not a landlord, then this will be a distraction.
