I have a brother in law in the business (not on speaking terms) that make a killing on Brooklyn rehabs.

I'm new to real estate investment, based in Brooklyn NY but looking to invest in my hometown of Rochester, NY.

Generally though, the returns in Manhattan and Brooklyn are rather low (I assume because of "stable" property values and appreciation) but with some digging you might find a very good deal. 

You might also want to speak with Josh Levy (aka Brooklyn R) who POL indicated was an advisor in 2014 and who in a previous post here says there are doing fine now which I really hope is true but for me the jury is still out until I get my investment back on the 10 delinquencies/foreclosures I current have.

Tight market right now in Brooklyn because most are Brownstones conversions.  

As a UT alum who has also lived in Brooklyn-I think its a great move.

My parents own two mixed use buildings in a rough part of Brooklyn and I have watched them really enjoy the fruits of the boom in property prices in the area.
