I think the suit was $13k and we settled for $500 with no admission of guilt - I had already paid my lawyer a grand and it was going to cost another few grand going to trial, so he offered them a $500 settlement with my approval and they accepted.

I would charge a bit lower than what he is paying & if you feel guilty put some of it in a repair escrow because you know if the vehicle ever needs major work he will not have the emergency cash & will probably walk away.
