If I remember right their employment base in Texas is a little higher now than in New York.I do have hopes that tourism will come back. 

Business is based much on tourism, and it’s the state capital so lots of government workers.

Eventually we would like to take that money and buy property in Thailand or Vietnam.

To the first point, areas such as downtown Denver, Houston, have lots of tourism demand, but an area like Dayton Ohio is better served by value add rehab.

A number of my rentals are in the Charleston, SC area--home of Boeing, a huge USAF base, and, until recently, one of the country's most bustling tourism mkts.
