And most of our cashflow this year has already gone right back into the property (new heating/cooling system, updated septic alarm, etc).

A work around option would be a fire alarm system with multiple smoke detectors throughout the property but then you have to involve an engineer, fire alarm/security company, in some places an electrician to install the work, local fire marshal, additional monthly service fees and/or contracts.

It depends on the modifications too, wider doors, open cabinets, pull under sinks, reinforced ceiling attachments for slings and bars, larger bath rooms, roll in showers, exterior ramps, van accessable garage with additional space and ramp, bed and bath alarms and open floor plans are hard to find.

I generally don't set an alarm, I just kind of wake up whenever. 

I've already got alarms going off in my head because if they haven't told you this already...then I'm wondering why.
