More original charm and features allow for a higher rent.  

I have found a lot of people like the older homes with their charm.

It's one of those places that can look very "homey" and charming, but can easily take a turn for the worse.

I think it's because   they know these areas and believe that  if your intention is to mind your own business you can live a peacable life.In my experience these tenants expect to be dealing with a slumlord so the charm that was exhibited when they were applying for the house soon wears off.
