Lenders can use legal ADUs to help qualify for the mortgage, so people that didn't even want to house hack before, may be in the market to do so simply to afford the type of house they want.

My ex still refused to provide financial documents so I could file on my end correctly in 2022/2023 while still legally married.  

They're not legally wrong, they are just leaving me in a tough situation (try to find a new tenant over the holidays). 

I would never tell tenants what temperature to keep their home at, even if it was legal.
