Either the water rises above the slab and gets in in between the siding and foundation or they hydraulic pressure of the water pushes up from the soil beneath the slab through the cracks in the foundation.

I was talking to a realtor who was pushing the townhouses at Camelback saying they are the best for rentals but I can't imagine they get much rental activity in the summer.

If your contingencies in the contract are up, I am sure you could get out by pushing that this was not disclosed to you previously.

If the smoke smell is bad, you should probably wash everything down first, clean the carpets, and then use the ozone generator.These work great on odors from pets, food, or smoke, but it sometimes still requires heavy cleaning first.

There were other concerning items like a hardwired smoke alarm taken down, the new fridge handle that I had purchased ($60) was not on the fridge, and there was fallen paint and a large water stain on the kitchen ceiling (2 baths and wash/dryer above that area).
