The plan is to put the rentals in SCH E of our joint return and file with TurboTax-We live in Florida-Leases under my wife's name, Airbnb app under my name, dedicated bank account for all rentals activity in the name of both-We have umbrella policy for liability protection for the rentals-We leverage some contractors (for example cleaning lady for the Airbnbs or lawn maintenance guy) that we pay >$600 for their services in a year and they are not our employees.

Affordable relative to the rest of the US so great place to work remote or just enjoy a reasonable life without being hugely cost burdened Cons: A lot of older than 1980s construction (you 100% can be successful with these properties just have more to check during due diligence) Need to be mindful of market rents in the area and not overspend on renovations where there is not ROI to do so, you can’t usually exceed $2 sf on rental rates and average price per sf is 1.25-1.5 sf (neighborhood, unit type, and finish level specific).KC is not a boom and bust market, you don’t get the high highs or the low lows.

I bought 1 House out right, I am refinancing for 100k. had 1 renter paying 1000. using the refinance to purchase the second property, and putting renter for 1400. it will also need 25k in repairs.

At this point, instead of continuing to pay the interest loan payments on properties that we will never be able to financially finish since the rehab loans will not cover the actual cost of the rehab, I wanted to know the ramifications of returning the properties to the loan servicer, deed in lieu.
