If its for sale (or not) and you don't have a contract with that developer, they can undercut you and buy it right under your nose legally, or do a land lease with the owner that is selling it.

less than 100.00 dollar but now had a vacancy now had to do some turn over now had to pay a new lease fee etc etc.. so that 100.00 get your nose bent out of shape cost them a few thousand.. and then just look at any of @James Wise photo's he post here on BP of what a tenant can do to a house..
