You can network with other locals that may be able to provide a good path for you before spending money on courses. 

But from what you posted, being in the path of development, near a major U is a good thing.

Like others have mentioned I would start to branch out and find your own connections to create your own path forward whether it be renting or selling. 

Did you get any interest or feedback from local buyers to help you determine a path forward?

Owner demands are forcing PMCs to hire cheap VA's from foreign countries, but it's difficult to train these VA's about industry knowledge and American customs. 

I work with a couple hundred investors from CA and they prefer the middle/southern part of the country because the price points are much easier and the landlord laws are friendly.

The USA is still the best country in the world for investing (and freedom) and I really have been around.In my opinion, for what it's worth, leaving the USA to invest in Spain would be like leaving a great party to go to a wake!
