Many many layers showing through.If this was my own home, I would not be that concerned about having a painter scrap off any loose stuff and give it a good thick covering of fresh paint, leaving lead paint in place.Is this a bad idea in a rental?

I've been there and this has been my solution. 1 fix plumbing issue2 spread lime (garden lime) thickly over affected area.3 let nature take its course our Florida sand sucks up moisture and nutrients in no time.
