As I'm preparing for this, I'm wondering what advice people have on home insurance--best companies they've found, or things I should be sure to note when I'm comparing plans?

It may take a few years to reach double digit returns and you need to be prepared for the next recession.  

If you're unsure, it's always better to be conservative and well prepared.

I don't know what kind of property you have in mind but you will be fairly limited on LTV and rates that isn't going to vary much from what you could get on Alternative Funding. 3) I would highly suggest you prepare for a purchase using whatever financing method, but then offering a NNN/option with the same amount being offered as a down payment.

Or if you were renting and were no where near prepared to buy a house before the disaster, probably not a good idea, you'd still need cash for closing costs, which can come as a "gift" but never a good idea to buy a house with no money in the bank even if the lender actually let you do it.
