Back in my real estate advertising newspaper days (you know when newspapers were a cash cow and before the internet) we'd attend these conventions.

He provides listings of different articles and Times Newspapers all pointing to Wall Street buying out all the homes making it impossible for REI to even get started.Never heard of this guy until now, but to be fair I'm only a couple weeks into learning about REI.

hey @Peter Sobotkayou can go to a REA to find tenants. if not try to market to colleges in your area. also post ad on a newspaper. make sure you screen all your tenants. if your interested in renting to people who are in a housing assistance program thats an option.

I am very business savvy and have sold every thing from ,Newspapers to vacuums to pools and made money.

In Alameda County, California, there is a newspaper that comes out that has a listing of each of the foreclosures that are scheduled to be sold every week.

Hire a high schooler to hit up news paper stands for those "renters guide" publications.

I remember books on tape, physically going to the courthouse to research evictions / defaults  and placing for rent ads in the newspaper. 

I thought fast, then said, "oh no, I advertised in the local Chinese newspaper last week, did you see that?"

Through my initial research I've found that going to the public notices section of each counties online newspaper is so far the best way to see which properties are going into pre foreclosure and all divorce filings in that county.

And so I'll echo rental homework via Craigslist, etc.In rural areas, the local newspaper classifieds are excellent also.
