Well not always because a freak system built up over our rental and dumped 12 inches of rain in 3 days ruining almost every piece of ceiling sheetrock. 

In the long run, though, it would possibly work to add an extra few inches to the wall and pack it full of the best insulation you can staple in or blow in, rated for sound-proofing.Best of luck!

I'm also currently exploring buying my parents a house as they get older and inch towards retirement.

So, I find that even 10% is too high for the vacancy rate, but better to be safe than sorry.I try to stay away from properties with HOA's because they fine you for things like a 2 inch weed on your sidewalk and the fees cut deep into your profits.

I just recently closed on a quad couple of months back and slowly but steadily inching towards a life where my money works for me rather than the other way round!

The wall of the balcony is about 24 inches high, quite low compared to new construction.

Every inch of this house was new.
