They then treated (painted) the wood with an antibacterial paint (I think it was Microban or something like it).Note removal was done with proper ventilation and protective clothing including respirator/mask designed to filter out mold.

The chemical is quite dangerous so I recommend goggles, rubber gloves, and possibly even a respirator if you're in a small area... but it will melt off the wallpaper like nothing you could believe.

The danger is when you wire brush old paint, the painters must make sure they have personal protective equipment, PPE, like a respirator, gloves, bunny suit, etc.

Ponder on this, you need a lead test if you are to touch any paint near a window if the house is built pre-1978, and if it tests positive, you need to hire somebody who has EPA certificate, they have to get a full coveralls, painters hat, shoe covers, and respirators, then you need an abatement company to throw away those garbage bags even if its only a few chips of paint.

Asbestos should always be handled by licensed professionals, they will spray it with water, create a vacuum so none of the dust gets throughout the house or airspace, respirators, full body suits, ect.

So if I had a relative on a respirator and they yanked them off and they died, I'd be ranting at the state because its their policy that allowed the hospital to do it.I'm currently more freaked about the red stuff, now.
