Plus college, private university and a thriving ministry school, Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, which draws people from around the world. 

Not that fast though.During a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism in Santo Domingo, I was encouraged to invest in real estate in the country but I was advised about avoiding Punta Cana because it's too late.

I'll share a synopsis of my personal story.First I'll state that Financial Independence is not everything & even though it's happened already for me, I'm continuing to save, invest & grow so I can afford a family soon & run a non profit ministry that's faith focused with family & friends.

Great book on this is called When Helping Hurts.I love the work that Samaritan's Purse does in the US and around the world so I volunteer year round with their ministry supporting their Operation Christmas Child outreach.

I've never had a rooming house per se, but did rent out my 4600 sq. ft. house to 14 girls from a school of ministry.

Though my property is within 2 blocks of the community college, a private university (Simpson) and a school of ministry, plus adjacent to a convenience store, and public transportation. 

I have a desire to support uplifting/encouraging art in Houston, for the art (music, performing arts, visual arts) is the heartbeat of the culture of a city, help propel the local church I am a part of to new levels of influence and ability to help (they have a large prison and drug addict ministry), and to provide future employment/contract work that can help establish good character and personal development in said employees.Real Estate/Business has the potential to impact on a city level what would be nearly impossible to do in the position of a W2 salary, even at higher levels in the corporate ladder IMO.This impact potential gets me absolutely jazzed.And so since November I have devoured books, burned through podcasts, employed my excel and access skillz, joined a local REI club, met up with local investors, read numerous BP threads/blogs, and now begun the actual deployment of action steps.The beginning of March has marked the real start of a new endeavor along side my engineering day job... heading down the Wholesaling route, seeing as deals are the must-have corner stone for this entire business.
