He has no safety net so I don't think its wise to take the risk because if he did a deal, lost disability and then since hes brand new to REI lets say it takes a while until he gets his next deal I just want to help advise him best!

@Jim Bouchard agreed with everyone just normal wear and tear, it happens. we just leased a brand new construction home and they've had like 4 things we've had to send someone out for (luckily all under warranty), but sometimes that stuff just happens.

The last few years I’ve seen it as pointless, as it was never a hard rule to be followed explicitly but a suggestion, and it seems like the only ones today who give it any credence are those brand new to REI and have heard it discussed on the older episodes of the podcasts or read about it in the books BP published 5+ years ago.
