@Sam Hickey Thanks for the additional info, I was browsing a bit on the USDA site but since their properties are mostly in low population areas I believe that wouldn't be great for downtime getting a tenant in.

I use rentometer.com and browse the MLS, Craigslist, and sometimes an app called Zumper to get an idea of rental price points for various suburbs of Charleston and then their specific neighborhoods.

I have enough saved for a down payment on a single family rental property, and have been browsing the MLS sites for a few weeks.Here‘s the catch - I’m renting right now in Downtown Tampa, and it isn‘t cheap.

I have been browsing different deals in the area to practice while we save up more $$ for a downpayment.

A great investing book is "The Unofficial Guide to Real Estate Investing"  and the Bigger Pocket forums are a great place to browse. 

Hi,I've been browsing bigger pockets for some time and reading various books about taking that first step and getting my first property in San Antonio Tx. 

The biggest thing is get educated ,read books listen to podcasts and browse the forums here everyday.

I was not in the least impressed when browsing through the pics of the nearest comps that sold.

I have been browsing BP website/forum for the last year and half and have read a few books on real estate investing and have learned a lot.
