I'm a broker, investor, and PM here in Sacramento -- we manage over 100 investment properties, mostly STR and MTR. 

I called the insurance broker who wrote my personal residence policy. 

My broker also manages horse show rentals which are longer term summer rentals. 

My warning there is to find a DST broker who is a real estate professional with a real estate investor's mindset.

What follows is my general understating, as a layman,  and personal opinion.The most obvious thing is not to misrepresent yourself as agent or broker, as someone who represents anyone in the transaction.
