., I understand the law is the law, but the law is made to force folks doing much more than raking a yard or replacing a loose step to become a contractor who has insurance etc. 

And single-owner trades-people don’t work forever, so I’ve had to find new folks a number of times after a trusted sub retires.

I really hate to see folks get stuck like this.
