She could not understand why we would buy a duplex where the rent from one side would cover our mortgage and then some (house hacking before the term was popular), as we were living in a posh apartment that she loved, and we would then have to deal with a "tenant".Suffice to say she did go through with the deal and support what I wanted, and when we sold the property 4 years later and reaped a ~75K cash profit (I still have the picture of the check from our escrow closing), only then did her tune change.
