Mid Island- Pretty much broken up into 2 parts, the west shore which is where the mall and what not is, and the east shore which is the boardwalk, beaches and Hylan Boulevard.

We have established our contractor, agent, and my husbands knows a lot of clients who flip, do commerical, run property management companies and whatnot. 

I've also met a few people who own their own construction businesses and what not who has given me their contact info for when I have the capital to invest into my own Fix & Flips.

from what I gather, the previous home owner had a Fannie Mae reverse mortgage so there is some sort of guidelines as far as purchasing and what not. 

For me my parents owned real estate and as a child I saw a lot of what not to do.

I personally prefer online for straight-up education, but find that the things other brokers say in the in-person classes are great fodder for what to do and as often as not, what *not* to do.Eventually though, you'll have to take the plunge. :0)

In the meantime read these threads, listen to podcasts, read books, and basically do whatever you can to learn vocab and what not.
