The American Dream used to constitute getting married, moving to the suburbs and buying a single-family home for a growing family.

As a non American this sounded fanciful but I have watched it happen over 6 or 7 years.

A friend reviewed my letter and opined to me that referring to my self as "real estate investor", in my own letter would spook potential clientele due to the negative connotation the phrase has in modern society.

I think the banks snuck that into some legislation back in the 80s because they knew the average American moved every 7 years, so they figure make them pay interest heavy up front.

Do you believe a large amount of American will move to Canada?

Corporations were told, "put Americans out of work and we'll lower your tax liability".

Contact your local historic home preservation society (or similar group), and ask for their recommendations.

If your parents are not American it may be different as well.

Depending on who the underwriter is (First American for example) they have additional requirements that the attorney has worked for 5 years under a title examining attorney before they can prepare their own opinion for example.
