Ivy Station.

I was stationed at one point in DC and at another point in SoCal, both areas have appreciated significantly (rent and values) since that point in my life.

Ofcourse its best to be able to personally see and manage the property from within driving distance, but being stationed In California when I get back, I know its an expensive and hard market to start out with, especially with only the 20k im aiming to have by the end of this year.

The city located a police sub station a few doors down that tends to help a bit with that now.I do hope that someone can revitalize the building.  

There is also a police station two streets over which makes me feel a little better about the area.

I know in some neighborhoods here in Chicago where past meatpacking plants, gas stations or spaces where major companies used to conduct their product assembly -- some of these business entities have been taken to court by local IPOs and community organizers and lost; they were ordered to not only cover the cost of the cleanup but the testing thereafter. 

Hi everyone.I'm an RE newbie so I'd like to pick your brain a bit.I've been looking at multi-family homes for my first investment and I found a good place on the West side of Midtown.The good thing about this duplex is that it is 10-12 min drive to Georgia Tech, and 5 min. walk to the station.

People say the transportation system is pretty good there which is also a reason I think investing in north south expansion and areas close to the stations would be worth looking into.

A fellow submarine officer and I luckily got stationed in Boston together at the same time.
