I finished that a couple of weeks ago and then found the BP podcast and listened to the first couple of episodes and I particularly enjoyed the personal stories of how people started out.

Because the grid is getting feed via solar, a person in many markets can get solar power, the question is via a privatized system or via the utility provider. 

I personally sold close to 30 I owned in an ascending market (sold prematurely) and know plenty of others who have had the same experiences in markets across the US. 

For those that rely on traditional methods and personal experience, I can understand this perspective.

Should I focus on teaching him the basics of personal finance, like saving and budgeting, or is there a way to introduce him to more advanced concepts like market analysis? 

Personally, I'm on a hiatus until rates come down a bit.

Knowing what i know today, I always encourage new investors to do their first investments with professional guidance if you can find it -not so much the guru courses, but a personal approach from a genuinely experienced investor in the market you are entering.

I would personally recommend having a little more for reserves.
