I understand that with landlording (house hacking or otherwise), my personal preferences of lifestyle choice don't matter. 

For many, 50 years ago, life was slower and it was more about a steady lifestyle. 

Thanks for your input.Seems to me that somewhere along the way, you let your lifestyle get ahead of your cash flow.

Just because your personal lifestyle doesn't warrant being an occupant homeowner, doesn't mean you can't benefit from others with lifestyle needs necessitating a backyard but without homeownership, that need a housing provider (ie, you) to provide and maintain for it.

Young professionals want this lifestyle in a new building with a gym and pool rather than the older style NYC living conditions in run down apartments with no dishwasher.

I would like to pull 80k out along with 20k of my own and re-invest into new property.I went full rental/passive income lifestyle last year.

We based our decisions on lifestyle, opportunity, and housing affordability.I wouldn't move somewhere just for REI.
