The three-handle systems are not pressure balanced or thermostatic and so if you run the kitchen faucet's cold water or flush the toilet downstairs in the second bathroom, the shower goes scalding hot.

It was suggested we use a wireless thermostat bc our current one is in the master bedroom only and he said to rewire to the main living area would be costly.

Tampering with the thermostat might be grounds for eviction (it is in the rental agreements I've signed), so this would be a risky proposition.If the thermostat was turned down, it's possible the landlord representative knows nothing about it.

Air:  Heating and cooling, what type, all rooms covered, thermostat, window units, everything working, if forced air, need servicing of ductwork, etc. age function of unit, type of fuel used. 

Not only do they do damage and make messes, but they make service calls for things like "I can't figure out the thermostat" or "I have too much trash for the trash can this week."

Sometimes the spikes and surges from those can fry things.For "no heat", it could be one side of the 240 V to the dryer missing, a bad heating element, bad regular thermostat, bad high-limit switch, or bad control board.
