There are many people on this site pushing those locations that have not historically kept up with inflation.Btw I advocate all newbies start local even if their local market has not kept up with inflation.

the market is tough right now and buying a random property you haven't seen and trusting it to people you don't know is likely going to push you backwards, not forwards.hope this helps

The entry level point for STR's has risen to the $4-500k range with many now pushing $750-850-$1M+ and I would expect that to continue to increase.

Buy in a market not too far away, 30 to 1 hr from a decent city center where values are reasonable and a city push out with help your rent and appreciation.
