I really like the landlord friendly and low property tax and price but can’t decide between Montgomery and Birmingham.

I like a lot of those cities, I’m a big believer in the mid-west going forward, Birmingham is interesting I was there a few years ago and I’ve been to probably over 100 U.S. cities at this point & frankly it was one of the worst ( though it did have fantastic architecture) & is one of the last affordable sunbelt cities, really that & Memphis are it, so I’ll be interested to see if it takes off.

@Michelle Backer,You’re frankly unlikely to find much (or any) affordable real estate in either New York City or much of the northeast, but there are plenty of inexpensive properties to be had if you’re willing to look out of state.I don’t have many details on Iowa or Nebraska, the two states you mentioned, but I know for certain that some Sunbelt states like Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia have plenty of affordable properties. For example, you can find rent-ready single-family homes in B/B+ neighborhoods in Birmingham, Alabama for under $150,000, which I imagine likely meets your definition of cheap.
