Not at all IMO, the initial contact was arising from a solicitation and the "known to us" is usually past business dealings,or an introduction by a third party you do business with, not a hand shake through an e-mail!

If it is high start chopping it down with extra payments or see if you can transfer to a new card with a much lower interest rate.If the interest rate is really low then it does not cost that much to carry.As for the student debt of 40,000 I am sorry to hear that.Student loans they make it to where even through bankruptcy you can't shake the debt.The government has made sure they will get their money.You can try deferment of payments and other things to help with the payment.no legal advice
