These are all doable ideas.

It does take some time to build that business though but if all you need is to save up a down payment you only need a few small deals so it's totally doable if you devote the time to it. 

We've done a lot of older houses (including a few 19th century ones) and while they are generally more expensive, they certainly are doable.
