Managing a company usually does not involve participating in real estate acquisition, management or construction.

Basically, they are a turnkey STR company. 

You can then check with the local county if the deed is in fact in that name (caution: if the property was bought recently, the county may not have caught up on the paperwork).Just be careful and NEVER give any form of cash to the seller, always send EM/downpayment to a title company that you have verified.

He was basically Someone that was in their early 20s maybe a relative to someone in the coaching company.

But  he said he still has to report it as a loss to the insurance company.

i know that might mean you don't get this specific card.I have found AmEx to be more flexible than other companies, if that helps. 

Will the city and insurance company hold me accountable and give me penalties even if it's living in the basement myself? 

Not sure where your STR is located, but you might want to look into local STR management companies that also offer staging services.
