Anyone would respect an fair offer and decency to make a good deal regardless of net worth.If you are prepared with showing your financing is able and that you can move quickly there should be no reason for them not to hear you out.Keep us posted on how this goes!

I ran across a great podcast from ICOR with an interview of someone who I think highly of, and respect his experience and insights. 

Especially when working with family, you have to prove yourself before you get respect.
