I've seen a lot of problems with people (mostly foreign born people but don't take it as a racist remark) renting out a place and inviting a dozen or more family members....most of which aren't legal US residents to begin with.

When you are in the MLS back end, they have agent remarks, which can shine a little light on why that specific property went for the price it did, or lasted the amount of time it did (i.e. house doesn't have proper CO's, cash buyer needed, check agent commission splits and bonuses offered, etc.)

As I see it, not only did the landlord present a "chilling effect" to the applicants by remarks he made, but he denied them based on his assumption that one of the parties would not be able to understand and enter into the legal contract necessary for renting the house.It is not necessary to translate the lease/rental agreement into the native language of the person with LEP (limited English proficiency.)
