I would get rid of the pink curtains in favor of some burgundy hunter green plaid like mine, :)No, really, I'm behind Carrie on this, especially the darker stain, might see what thick smoke glass shelves look like with the wood sides, change the hardware.Don't mess with those beams, they look good IMO.I wouldn't paint paneling, there is a thick paintable textured wall paper to use over paneling and then paint it.

How to fix: you can either repeatedly apply band-aid fixes (snake the line with a blade that will chop through roots as long as they're not already too thick, and make it a recurring maintenance kind of thing), OR you can replace your sewer line.

Treat the area thoroughly with Microban....then add adequate venting....a thick vapor barrier which we usually bring about 1' up the sides and seal off the edges.
