It can definitely cause prices to go down too, but it's not a foregone conclusion, and difficult to predict, IMHO - especially the market's reaction to what's going on.

The answer I would predict you will get most unanimously on here would be that the high maintenance/hoa fees and the slow appreciation of condos make investing in them a bad (or at least risky) idea.

I know I'm not planning to sell anytime soon but we can't predict the future so I still factor in the ease of liquidation.I also find that the amount of work that I have to put in buying and maintaining a 4 plex is pretty much the same as a 14 plex.
