However if you have an old house with multiple layers of paint peeling, then you should check it before sanding it and possibly getting lead all over.

You know, when you decide to shore up the gutter and add a few extra screws and realize the facia board is too mushy and once you pull that off the soffit is also rotted but then you find out the rafter is rotted and all of the sudden you’ve peeled back a whole chunk of the house that was well hidden and didn’t catch the eye of the inspector and before you know it, another month goes by and not to mention an additional 10k that wasn’t in the budget.Make sure you have an inspection from someone who is familiar with fixer uppers and be there on the ground with them like a shadow behind them asking questions and pointing that big flashlight your bring along into all the dark corners.

Let's table this for now, put a pin in it, get some synergy going with the boots on the ground, get our ducks in a row and go after the low hanging fruit, then work hard-play hard for awhile, "pivot" to the "new normal", peel the onion, open the kimono, do a deeper dive then have a "come to Jesus" moment and think outside the box.

Not long ago I looked at a posting someone put here on BP that someone said “fully renovated” (or similar) and you could clearly see the gutter was rolling over, the windows were old, paint was peeling and that was from a single shot of the front of the home.
