I can't speculate what will happen with housing demand when that really starts taking root or what kind of jobs may replace them or how Detroit may diversify itself away from those types of jobs completely (I do believe there's a big case for that).

What mold needs to grow, Food source(wood, glue, organic material), Temperature, and Moisture.Cleaning the surface with chlorine and water only kills the superficial part of it but like most weed, unless you remove the hyphae(main root) and the mycelium (collection of roots) from the wood components all you are doing is a surface patch.
