It is like a tiny home on a trailer.

Every day I go buy things for my household I decide whether the price I pay for an item is worth it or not.

Think of yourself living in the rooms, not for style, but is there enough space (ie don't buy a place with lots of tiny rooms).

IMO, it is the lack of education (not schooling, but how to clean, teach your kids to respect their living space, etc) that causes the issues, and you have that whether it's a single adult household paying with a voucher, or a two adult household, who both have low pay jobs. 

It is called household formation.

I know in my tiny village three business owners recently received grants $100K (think they match) for outsideimprovements (windows, parking, roofing, patio)  Must be nice; that's what I want! 

So when I showed her my plan, she pushed back since this was outside of our normal household practices.

This might sound silly, but have your most honest friend come over and do a walk through with you and point out every tiny cosmetic detail that should be fixed.
