And then they have a Princeton professor stating "If evictions are allowed to continue..."

One of my favorite law professors used to always say, "in life, you don't get what's fair, you get what you negotiate."

Several are assistant professors at CSU who depend on a stipend.

If short-term rentals are frowned upon by your city but it's near a hospital or school, you could turn them into medium-term rentals (i.e. longer than 30 days but less than 3-6 months) for travel nurses, visiting professors, etc.

As a college student you have a very unique opportunity to voice that interest to professors, they likely have connections who would be willing to help you learn.
