I'm fairly entrenched in their software and still like it but I'm not above moving.  

Pending foreclosure or tax sale or code violations or entrenched squatters or co-owners that aren't speaking or HOA issues or deceased owners......lots of distresses out there. :)

You can get a fair idea of how powerful entrenched interests are in cities by how the cities react to things like uber / airBNB, (or how beholden the politicians are). 

Its difficult to grasp an entire area without being entrenched in it or having someone who knows it well. - Mike 

Big enough that they have some inventory and rental demand, but small enough where some of these big time investor operators aren't entrenched in there.Investing is much easier when you're competing with a handful of other investors like yourself as opposed to the deep pocket investors in the larger cities/suburbs that have seemingly endless sources of money.....

@Ola Dantis Thank you for your feedback, I feel as though I have obsessed over the syndication space enough for the past month or two that I can at the very least speak the language, and now I'm at the point where I need to further educate myself practically, get more entrenched in education and hop in a few deals, even if just passively at first to get real life experience.

But I doubt that is true in NJ since it is entrenched with special interests at the state level.

The problem many face is being out bid by a few entrenched players which dominate local auctions, or others willing to pay too much.

There are countless examples of entrenched industries using laws to their benefit.

And it is something that I have thought about as a way to get myself entrenched in the business.
