Now he has always had diabetes from childhood and his wife is a kidney stone factory and has to have her kidneys cleaned out every 5 years or so by operations not just treatments so they are "uninsurable" because the premiums are too much.I also took a second job and moved in so that I could put the most available funds into this family.

i own and live in my house with my husband and I take care of my 70 year old uncle that has copd and my mother is a diabetic but my sister's boyfriend is on the deed first he has another house that he and my sister live in I found ours and got a deal on it we are looking to borrow $50,000 on it cause I need to pay him back and he said he would come off the deed and we need to do some repairs on it and add another room and bath I am waiting on my disability and have poor credit cause I had to quit my job but I get paid to be my family's caretaker so do you know any private lenders that would let me borrow that much with my deed and pretty quick

Make investing decisions based on a tax bill is foolish, but that is what I have seen a lot of people do.So maybe the issues I see with 1031s are simply a symptom of people having sub optimal decision making paradigms.
