If there is indeed a receiver appointed it suggests there is already a court action pending and someone has stepped in to make sure no more money is taken and to handle the day to day affairs until things are sorted out.

My property manager does an excellent job and allows me to separate myself from any personal relationships with a tenant which is something I personally think is mandatory for all landlords.Don't beat yourself up for having a good heart and since you know this about yourself, put things in place to manage your business affairs.

I would send an email to the state Atty generals consumer affairs officestating in the email you are CCing the title company, selling agent, listing agent and your mortgage company I would do the same with every local radio and TV station as well as all of the big networks.
