Since literally 2/3 of your post is correcting me on a vernacular issue that I only mentioned as an allusion to something that I was stating as incorrect in my circle, I guess I'm sort of left to suppose that you just want to talk about how you know things.Now, you can simply doubt the veracity of my "faux pas" admission if you want, but as it's a forum and all we have are our words, that effectively puts an end to any meaningful interaction.

From a legal standpoint, jurisdictions vary widely in their laws - search for the thread about NJ and audio/video cameras last month for a taste - so I won't get into the weeds whether the OP is in a "one party" or "two party" state with regards to surveillance.By her own admission, the OP is already suffering the fallout from the other tenant from her overstepping bounds and making them uncomfortable in their own home.
