False advertising.  

It's not investment, and it's certainly riskier, but it's not some absurd concept.Leasing an item to use in business is pretty standard.I don't see why leasing an apartment or house to use as a short term rental is any crazier than renting a crane and using it in construction.

Most people are lemmings and would rather have the false confirmation that their paycheck will always be there; until it isn't.I have many friends and family who rather have a steady paycheck and keep with the status quo then roll the dice.

Problem was that tax auctioned properties no longer sold at anything like 10c on the dollar, that the claim that John's program provided "everything" anybody needed to earn XXXX amount was clearly false; and John and or the marketing firm did not honor the money back guarantee.  

It was absurd.  

Their false promises, inefficient processes, and overly complicated application requirements have been a costly mistake.

An absurd amount.

But government wants to pander to the tenants who falsely believe rents are too high and do not understand the risk increase that rent control impacts on the LL or the loss of incentive to well maintain the unit.
